Saltillo Tiles are a natural clay tile, handmade by gifted artisans with primitive methods. Rustic by design, the beauty and characteristics of these tiles are variations in size, color and texture. These natural clay tiles are not merely sun-dried (although sun drying is indeed one step in the production) but also are kiln fired. It is the way in which these handmade tiles are stacked and positioned in the kiln that produces their natural shading and range of colors. The "striping" is caused by the drying process. The chips, cracks, lime "pops" and paw prints are all-typical and only add to the natural beauty of this handcrafted look.

Paw prints are not a problem to make and can be specially ordered for your floor. In addition, we can custom make tile sizes to match existing floors. There is a fee to have a mold made and it can produce between three to five hundred square feet of Saltillo Tiles. We recently filled an order from a man who had a really odd-sized tile, a seven-inch octagon with a two-inch dot. He could not find it anywhere. We made it. With our in-house artist, Ashley, the sky's the limit.
